One of the fundamental points of the article is that money can be different, and their role is different depending on the semantic field to which they are attached, i. e. from the point of their fastening, from what Lacan called point du capiton. This position is argued by the analysis of Sergei Mikhalkov’s pamphlet «The Adventure of the Ruble», which deals with the differences in the fate of the Soviet ruble and the American dollar. The psychoanalytic method allows us to talk about various dimensions of money, symbolic, imaginary, and even about the circulation of capital from the real. Unlike capitalist discourse, in psychoanalytic discourse, object a acts as that incommensurable object that does not allow totalizing the system. In support of the point that money is money apart, the author turns to analytical practice, in which the analysand pays for the session with his currency, which Freud called neurotic. This currency is also not universal, since each analyzer has its own, and its meaning becomes clear in the course of the analysis: a singular entity has a singular currency. An example is the «rat currency» of a patient known in the history of psychoanalysis as the Rat Man.
